Beginner-Friendly / Novice to Intermediate
Guppy Group is a great fit for swimmers who are newer to coached swim practice, working on stroke fundamentals, or returning to the pool after time away.
This is not a learn-to-swim class, so swimmers should be comfortable swimming 25 yards continuously, which is one length of the pool.
Guppy sessions are smaller and focus mostly on freestyle, with optional stroke work depending on the group. The goal is to build confidence, improve technique, and help swimmers feel more comfortable in a coached practice setting.
Most swimmers complete about 800 to 1,500 yards in a one-hour Guppy session, depending on ability and comfort level.
Intermediate to Advanced
Mahi Group is for swimmers who are ready for a more traditional Masters swim practice.
This group is a good fit for swimmers who can comfortably swim 400 yards freestyle without stopping and are ready to work on endurance, pacing, technique, and speed.
Practices include freestyle, stroke work, kicking, drills, and interval-based sets. Swimmers are grouped by ability whenever possible, and intervals are adjusted to fit different levels.
Most swimmers complete about 2,500 to 3,000 yards in a one-hour session and up to 4,000+ yards in a 1.5-hour morning session.
This group is ideal for swimmers who want to be challenged while continuing to improve.
Beginner to advanced
Combined Group sessions bring Guppy and Mahi swimmers together in the same practice.
Swimmers are placed in lanes based on ability, and coaches adjust distances, intervals, and expectations as needed. This format allows swimmers of different levels to train at the same time while still receiving an appropriate workout.
Combined sessions are especially helpful for Guppy swimmers who may be thinking about moving into the Mahi Group, because they can get comfortable training alongside swimmers of similar ability.
